Where to kite and wing in the Grenadines
All the main kite and wing spots of the Grenadines are about 10 to 20 minutes from the JT Pro Center spot by boat. Stay on Union Island with our kite and wing accommodation options, then explore Frigate, Mayreau, the Tobago Cays, Palm Island and Mopion through our kite cruises and wing excursions. It is also surprisingly easy to arrive, Union Island Airport is right beside the center, and current Grenadines connections make the last step simple. See our Getting Here page for flight details.
Restrictions & beginners
Several Grenadines spots have launching and riding restrictions, and rangers enforce them daily. Beginners must take kite or wing lessons with the JT Pro Center to learn safely.
On the main beach

A lagoon of amazing colours with flat water and all the Kitebeach amenities, day beds, beach setup, air compressor, beach assistance and boat safety. To ride here on your own you must go upwind consistently, it is not a beginner spot without our lessons and safety boat.

A flat water spot in Ashton with offshore wind over an old marina walkway, and an amazing foil spot with deep enough water. Wind can be gustier on N/NE. We organise downwinders here with boat safety.

Big Sand, Union Island
A wide white sand beach with easy side shore waves and kickers, best on NE winds, and a good spot to learn surfing on no wind days. The Sparrow’s Beach Club is great for lunch, launching is limited by rocks.

Mayreau, Salt Whistle Bay
A reef protected spot with waves outside and small kickers inside, and a thin sand spit separating it from the calm anchorage, perfect for a partner who is not kiting to relax 10 metres away. Kiting the flat bay in front of the sailboats is not allowed.

The Tobago Cays
A huge lagoon of the clearest blue, common turtle sightings and rich sea life, beautiful but choppy, so not the best for freestyle. Launch only from Jamesby or Petit Tabac, careful of the reef, launching from Baradal and kiting between sailboats is forbidden.

Palm Island Wave Spot
Some of the best reef waves in the Grenadines, side shore for advanced riders, plus a choppy north lagoon for freestyle or foil. Launch from our Kitebeach spot, you must be an advanced kitesurfer and always bring a friend for assistance.

A tiny island of sand ringed by protective reef, with a single umbrella for shade, shallow and small, but a sight everyone should see once, and a great start for a downwinder back on SE winds. Respect swimmers and families, avoid launching when others are present.

It is a misconception that you need to sail to reach these spots. From Union Island they are all minutes away by speedboat.

Barbados or St. Vincent to Union Island, with short onward regional connections.
